PASSPORT AND VISA

International participants need a valid Passport and Visa for their trip to China. As soon as the Congress Secretariat receives the Registration Form and the related fees from participants and their accompanying persons, they will be sent an e-mail with an invitation to help them get a Visa from their local Chinese Embassy or Consulate for entrance into China. In addition to a Visa, participants from some countries are required to have a Chinese Green Card. Inquire at your local Chinese Embassy or Consulate for details about this Green Card.
In order to assist you filling out the Visa Application Form obtained from your local Chinese Embassy or Consulate, the name and mailing address of the Congress inviter and contacting person, contacting phone number, email address are provided as following,

NOTICE ABOUT VISA APPLICATION

With the approach of the 2008 Olympic Game to be held in China, Chinese Embassies/Consulates around the world have made some stringent limits for the Visa applications to China. The local Chinese Embassy/Consulate will request the all Visa applicants not only to present formal invitation letters, but also to provide the hotel reservation confirmation letter and round trip air tickets or a copy of outward and return flight ticket booking.

(1) Formal Invitation Letters of the INTER-NOISE 2008 Congress
You can present

  1) INTER-NOISE 2008 Invitation/Acceptance Letter
  2) Authorized Notification Form for Visa Application (ANFVA)


as formal invitation letters of the INTER-NOISE 2008 Congress to your local Chinese Embassy/Consulate for obtaining your Visa. Both are needed. The ANFVA is issued by the Bureau of International Co-operation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (BIC/CAS) with the permission of Chinese Foreign Ministry. The ANFVA have been sent via email to many Congress registrants, including the accompanying persons, who have provided their passport number and nationalities in their online registration form.

For those INTER-NOISE 2008 Congress registrants, who have not provide their passport number and nationalities, the INTER-NOISE 2008 Organizing Committee would like to urge you to provide your passport number and nationalities through your online registration form or sending an email to the Congress Secretariat at in08@mail.ioa.ac.cn as soon as possible, so that the Congress Secretariat can prepare the ANFVA for you and send it to you as early as possible for assisting you to get your Visa smoothly. The original hard copy of ANFVA will be also sent to you by air mail later for your reference.

(2) Hotel Reservation Confirmation Letter
For those hotel registrants among the participants of INTER-NOISE 2008 Congress, who have booked the hotels designated by the Congress and paid the deposit fees, the INTER-NOISE 2008 Organizing Committee will request the relevant hotels to provide the Hotel Reservation Confirmation Letters for each registrant. For those hotel registrants among the participants of INTER-NOISE 2008 Congress, who have booked the other hotels by themselves, which are not designated by the Congress Organizing Committee, the Congress Organizing Committee suggests you ask your booked hotel to provide your Hotel Reservation Confirmation Letter. Meanwhile, in order to guarantee to obtain your Visa smoothly, the Congress Organizing Committee suggests the Congress participants make a hotel reservation and obtain your Hotel Reservation Confirmation Letter provided by your booked hotel before applying for your Visa.

(3) Round Trip Air Tickets/A Copy of Outward and Return Flight Ticket Booking
According to the recent requirement of many Chinese Embassies/Consulates around the world, such as in USA, UK, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Australia, Korea, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, India and France etc, round trip air tickets or a copy of outward and return flight ticket booking is also required before submitting your request for a travel visa to China, including Tourist Visa (L Visa) and Business Visa(F Visa).

According to the recent requirement of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, Japanese citizens do not need a travel visa to visit China for less than 15 days. According to the recent requirement of the Chinese Embassies in Russia and Ukraine, Russia and Ukraine citizens do not need to provide round trip air tickets or a copy of outward and return flight ticket booking during applying for travel visa to China.

In a word, while you apply for your Visa from your local Chinese Embassy/Consulate, please keep in mind that following Four documents are needed to present.

   1) INTER-NOISE 2008 Invitation/Acceptance Letter provided by INTER-NOISE 2008 Congress
   2) Authorized Notification Form for Visa Application (ANFVA) issued by BIC/CAS
   3) Hotel Reservation Confirmation Letter issued by your booked hotel in China
   4) Round Trip Air Tickets OR A Copy of Outward and Return Flight Ticket Booking (Optional for some countries' participants)

The requirements of the Chinese Embassies/Consulates around the world for travel visa application is quite different. For the details of the instructions on how to apply a Chinese Visa, please further ask your local Chinese Embassy/Consulate before the submission of your request for a travel visa to China.

Note: Because the reason for travel to China written in the Authorized Notification Form for Visa Application (ANFVA) sent to Congress participants is academic exchange. So we suggest a Business Visa, instead of a Tourist Visa, is appropriate for you to apply for.
